Part II: Be Motivated

Just a few blocks away is our next creative visit. The exciting Moonlighter FabLab maker space. With our guides, founders Tom Pupo and Daisy Nodal, we will be among the first to see this new complex –including the digital fabrication lab, creative collaboration, and learning space. We will enjoy our tour of the space and see the array of the most advanced equipment available for personal manufacturing, meet several resident artists, and then, have a delicious Thierry Isambert catered boxed lunch together.

Part I: Be Inspired

The Scholl Collection: Meet us on Miami Beach at 10:00 AM at the home of Debra and Dennis Scholl to visit their uniquely special art collection. As proactive art collectors for over 30 years, they have built a cutting-edge art collection of work by internationally established artists as well as up-and-coming ones. Join us to explore their art collecting practice and vision art. As Dennis has been quoted, “The focus of the collection has always been on the undiscovered, forgotten or overlooked. That is an element of collecting that we enjoy: the sense of discovery, the thrill of finding interesting new artists at the beginning of their career, or even an entire movement that has been marginalized but is ripe for rediscovery.”

Part III: Be Creative

A special opportunity to share a do-it-ourselves experience. Together, we will dive into the art of making paper flowers with two of our members as our guides: Terry Kaplan and Amy Pollack. All you need is a pair of paper scissors and you will learn basic techniques with construction paper and tissue paper and leave with something very special to adorn your personal world.  (Other materials will be provided!)

To learn more: See Livia Cetti’s book The Exquisite Book of Paper Flower Transformations.
